The Boulderado Hotel opened with a New Year's Eve Ball in 1908-1909, and was Boulder's first luxury hotel. This five-story hotel located at 2115 13th Street was the brainchild of three prominent men, Fred Moys, Jonas Bergheim and Walter Nichols, who urged all Boulderites to subscribe to a $100,000 fund drive in 1906. S.A. Forbess and his son G.M. Forbess owned and operated a threshing business near Hygiene between 1878 and 1920. They bought their first steam powered threshing machine about 1888.
